Paper One Topic: The representation of the “Jewish Jesus” figure in several of Marc Chagall’s paintings from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s (e.g.: “White Crucifixion” (1938), “Christ with Clock” (1956)). Additionally, I plan on looking at the cultural, historic, and semi-autobiographical significance of the paintings, as Chagall paints Christ’s crucifixion in a modern setting, reflecting the treatment of Jews during the Russian Revolution, World War II etc.

Paper Two Topic: A look at royally commissioned Mughal art featuring Jesus from Jahangir’s reign (1605-1627). I will also the role of the Jesuits and western art on Mughal “Christian” paintings and the political purposes behind these works.

Paper #1 - As of right now I am writing about how the image of Jesus Christ was fundamental in the creation of representations of the Prophet Muhammad in the Mongol Empire.

Paper #2 - In order not to disappoint the "rage Jesus" fans, I hope to discover why the "modern" Jesus is represented as gentle and kind without the inclusion of human emotions like anger and violence.

Open to any help/suggestions anyone has!

Paper One: Jesus and Kant. I'm going to write about how Immanuel Kant situates his unorthodox understanding of Jesus within his moral philosophy, based primarily on his book, "Religion Within the Bounds of Bare Reason." My thesis is not developed yet, but he basically interprets Jesus as an "Idea of the Ideal" and goes on to explain how Jesus fits within a rationalist moral framework.

Paper Two: To my disappointment, the Darwin and Jesus topic didn't work out as there was not enough material to make a paper. Instead I will (to continue with the Evolution and Jesus theme) write a paper on Pierre Teilhard de Chardin and Jesus. Teilhard was a Jesuit Priest, a paleontologist, geologist, and took part in the discover of Peking Man. As an evolutionist and Catholic, his life's work centred around reconciling the two, and his work provides an interpretation of Jesus set within a broad evolutionary understanding of the Cosmos. I will primarily use his books, "Christianity and Evolution" and "Science and Christ".

My first paper was on Hung Xiuquan leader of the Taiping Movement and Jesus' Brother. It discuss how Hung was able to convince the people of China that he was Jesus younger brother focusing on the notes he wrote in the new and old testament as well as his own publication of the "True Testament.

Hi

First Paper)
I looked at a letter written by George Fox to the Great Turk. The main focus was to look at Fox's attempt to use the Quran to validate a JEsus that really is the Christian Jesus but can be applied to Muslims.

Second Paper)

I am writting on Bollywood Jesus. I am taking a few movies from before 1975, and one from 1977. I wil look at how Christianity is inherently seen to be a western thing, the people use speak English. Jesus is worshipped much like in the same manner that Hindu gods are in the movies. I dont have a concrete thesis yet, but I am starting to rewatch the movies, more in my referat soon to come (if u are reading this before Nov 16 :) )

Paper One:
Legend of Mar Qardagh - an ancient Iraqi hagiography in which Jesus only makes a small direct appearance. I examined in the paper how martyrologies blur the lines between good followers of Christ and actual Christ figures.

Paper Two: Godspell the musical and how its presentation of the Gospel is representative of the Hippie culture/ Jesus People movement of the late 60s,
early '70s.

Paper one topic: The analysis of the Toldot Yeshu, a Jewish interpretation of the gospels, and the parallels which can be drawn between Yeshu and Jesus Christ. However the Todot represents Jesus Christ of the Gospels in a derogatory way as a response to the persecution they faced at the hands of their Christian enemies.

Paper Two: I will write about Simon Kimbangu the african prophet and founder of Kimbanguist Religion who claimed to be sent to earth by God as a sort of second Jesus. He was reported to have healed people and brought them back to life and other such Christ like miracles. I will compare Kimbangu story (through the Catechisms) with that of Jesus of the gospels and explain why Kimbanguism caught on with the people of Africa and why there was such wide spread belief in Kimbanguism.

Paper Topic One: The Gospel of Thomas, examining how this Gospel portrayed Jesus and why this Gospel did not make it into the Bible. Thomasine tradition has it that one needs to look within to find God, Jesus is portrayed as a wise teacher and those who are able to find the meaning to his words (the elect) can be with God.
Paper Topic Two: Baha'u'llah's perception of Jesus and Muhammad, who was the most loved prophet, what roles did each play, were their descriptions focused to a specific audience?
